Workshop

Rasterdeck brings bespoke hardwood furniture, electronics, and software together in a Wyoming workshop. Each discipline matters to the finished piece: the proportions of a cabinet, the feel of a control, and the performance of the electronics all contribute to the experience of owning and using it. These are pieces for people who care about the furniture in their homes as much as the music they listen to and the games they play.

A lifetime of making

I began woodworking with my dad in our garage 35 years ago, and I have been working with wood ever since. That experience has grown through hundreds of custom projects for clients with exacting expectations. Twenty years ago, I began working in robotics, spanning fabrication and software. I have also spent 15 years developing software professionally. Rasterdeck draws those parts of my working life together. As a master craftsman, I bring a furniture maker’s attention to the wood and joinery, alongside the technical experience to develop what belongs inside the cabinet. I enjoy work that calls on both: a physical object that is satisfying to use and deserves its place in a carefully considered room.

Solid wood, considered construction

The finished cabinets are made from solid hardwood. Grain, proportion, joinery, and the relationship between adjoining parts give each piece its character. The workshop combines handplanes, handsaws, and traditional joinery with planers, jointers, saws, and CNC routing. Lathes, a milling machine, and metal casting extend what can be made here. CAD supports the design work, helping resolve how the furniture and its internal components fit together before construction. That range of tools allows the method to suit the part, from shaping wood by hand to producing a component that requires precise machining.

Electronics developed in-house

The electronics laboratory supports circuit design, PCB production, assembly, and measurement within the workshop. Alongside conventional bench tools, it includes advanced equipment for working with surface-mount components and laboratory instruments for examining circuit behavior. Bringing this capability together with fabrication and software gives Rasterdeck the means to develop the cabinet and its electronics as one piece. The aim is a coherent experience, with the same care given to what you see, what you touch, and how it works.

Service that stays personal

I believe in standing behind what I make. If something goes wrong with your system, get in touch. I'll work with you to understand the problem and make it right. Optional remote-support access can be included for software diagnostics at your request. Each diagnostic session would begin only with your permission, and access would be limited to that session. You'll know who is helping you and what we're working to resolve.
